The Invisible Wave
An autobiographical reflection
For as long as I can remember, I’ve carried within me a natural sense of trust – strengthened by my aversion to generalizations and dogma.
So I searching for patterns in nature and in thought.
To some, what follows may seem like an abstract idea; for me, it is the source of inspiration – in painting as in the challenges of everyday life
A Dance of Plus and Minus
A tingling energy runs through me when I listen to a piece by Miles Davis or Sinéad O’Connor – electrifying, yet calming at the same time.
I feel the same quiet thrill when I look at a painting by Monet or Dalí.
Like drops of spring water, the words of R. M. Rilke or Goethe seep into me as I read them.
All art is an exchange of emotions, expressed through the modulation of contrasts: high and low, light and shadow, clarity and darkness, tension and release.
Every art form is, in its own way, a wave – vibration, movement, rhythm.
I imagine the sea.
I hear the mighty approach of the waves, the powerful breaking of surf in the tide, and the gentle pull of the ebbing water.
Again and again – for eons – rhythmic as my breath.
I become one with the sea, breathing in harmony with the wave.
I see thoughts forming a motion of waves, born of opposites:
plus and minus, one and zero, male and female, good and bad – a continuum.
Just as plus and minus generate energy, fullness and emptiness create a wave.
It is the very way matter moves – as light, as sound, as life.
From above, the wave transforms:
a stone falls into water – a circle appears.
Cause and effect, life and death – the eternal cycle.

With the same admiration I look at the dandelion:

its circular geometry, its lightness and circularity – a symbol of the eternal coming and going of life through its seeds.
When I blow on it, change happens: the seeds rise and scatter.

As I inhale, attention turns inward.
Here I begin to reinterpret nature, to recreate it with my inner eye.
Thus the cycle repeats: I and the world – endlessly reinterpreted.
Even the breath unites opposites – in and out, inside and outside.
Read backwards, the German word “Atem” – meaning “breath” – becomes “Meta”: a mirror image, like the wave itself, carrying polarity within and reconciling it at once.
L’onda invisibile

Vedo i pensieri formare un moto ondoso, nati dai contrasti:

Inspirando, l’attenzione si rivolge all’interno.
